Khawab @ SJC, Namli

‘Beti bachao Beti padhao’ is remaining just a slogan in some of the villages in India. The dream of seeing the school just remains a dream for many girl children.

Whether it is curbing of article 370 and 35A, or implementing of NRC (National Register of Citizens), or CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) all moving at the verge of destroying Indian democracy.  Curfew, protests, bloodshed, mob lynching, rapes are on the increase. Will we ever find our country a better and safer place to live in specially for girls?

Amidst turmoil in the entire country, ‘Khawab’ which means Dream played an undaunted role as over 1200 audience witnessed this Khawab staged by the students of St. Joseph’s Convent School, Namli, Ratlam on Saturday, December 21.

‘Dreaming for a better me & we’ was the theme celebrated throughout the year by the education ministry of Tanmaya Province. ‘Khawab’ was just a small venture to unravel this theme.    The opening chorus sung by the students ‘I have a dream’ solemnized the atmosphere with hope and courage.

Khawab was centralised on the life journey of Mary Kom, who became more successful boxer at world championships in 2019 and aspiring to win the elusive Olympic gold at Tokyo Games in 2020. A simple Manipuri girl, whose birth shut the dream of her father who was expecting a baby boy, today became a source of inspiration for more girls to dream high.

There was thunderous applause and appreciation by the audience as the students performed the entire show through dance drama. Special Guest, Mr. Padhan, T.I. Namli in his message conveyed the importance of educating girl children and showing equal importance to boys and girls in families. He urged the parents to send girl children to school and make them competent to face the world.

Christmas message, enactment of school report and grand finale were praiseworthy.
