Celebration of Laudato Si week at Mohankot

Various themes given to us for each day of the Laudato Si week were very helpful to conduct prayers. Besides those handouts the book Laudato Si, the Encyclical of Pope Francis itself was also made use of for reflections and prayers.

One of the added joys of celebrating this week being the month of May was to build a small Grotto in front of our house. We ourselves collected the needed bricks and stones from our compound and sand from the neighbour’s compound. In 3 days time the Grotto was ready and the blessing was done. Our Catholics of the compound were invited to join for the blessing after which snacks were served for them. We were happy to pray the Rosary at the Grotto every day.

The entire week was a time to reflect and pray for the whole world – people, creatures and the vast creation which is going through endless sufferings. It brought about a lot of awareness about the need to reduce carbon footprints which we are already practising. We try to cultivate some vegetables in our garden and buy locally cultivated vegetables. We took pledge to take care of the earth, not to waste food, water & to concentize the children.

Nature meditation and being with the plants energizes to end the day with gratitude to the Almighty who is the giver of all good things.
